Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments Submitted to Sumner Newscow — Starting around Monday, March 14, the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin an asphalt overlay project on K-55 Highway in Sumner and Cowley Counties, U.S. 81/K-55 Intersection west of the City of Belle Plaine to the K-15/K-55 Intersection north of the City of Udall.Traffic through this work zone will be controlled by flagmen and pilot car, so drivers can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. The work area will move daily and work will be underway during daylight hours only. This project is scheduled to be completed in early May, depending on delays caused by adverse weather conditions.APAC Kansas, Inc., Shears Division from Hutchinson is the prime contractor for this $1,303,000 project, which is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature.
