first_imgAccording to an article in the Indianapolis Star, all the pictures of Bobby Plump’s winning shot in 1954 were not really the winning shot.  It turns out to be a picture that was taken in quarter number 1.  Roger Schroeder saw the picture and told everyone that Bobby Engle was in the photo.  Engle only played the first 4 minutes of the game because of an injury. The real picture did not surface.  The picture that was presented to Plump at his 80th birthday party, was a Cincinnati Post photograph.  In the winning shot, everyone followed the ball going through the basket, and no one had a picture of Plump shooting it. Tom Kohlmeier’s donation helped pay for the picture that was painted by an artist from the Cincinnati Post photograph.  As far as anyone knows, no one has an actual picture of Plump’s shot!last_img
