Gaeil Fhánada 5-19 Na Dunaibh 0-9. Well done to all involved. Under 16’s:Our under 16’s played Cloughaneely in Falcarragh on Monday night and came away with an impressive win after a very exciting contest. Fanad entered this game looking for a win to get things back on track after a disappointing result last time out against Termon. Things didn’t start so good in this match either for the boys with Cloughaneely 8 points ahead with 25 minutes on the clock. At this point Fanad burst into life and scored two quick fire goals from John Heraghty and Alan McAteer. A further point from Niall Carr and the teams went in at half time with the deficit at a minimum. The second half was a wonderful advertisement for underage football as both teams came out and put everything they had on the line. It was real end to end stuff with goals flying in at either end. Another two goals from John Heraghty and a goal from Alan McAteer along with points from Niall Carr, Aiden Heraghty and brothers Conor and Oisin McFadden left Fanad leading by two points going into injury time. The game wasn’t over yet and Fanad had to defend for their lives as Paul O’Connor pulled off a couple of world class saves to hold on and give the Gaels the victory on a score of Gaeil Fhánada 5-7 Cloughaneely 5-5. Excellent team performance from the boys.Team and Scorers: Paul OConner, Bernard Martin, Sean Gibbons, Conor McDevitt, Oisin McFadden (0-1), Odhran Shiels, Michael Shiels, Aiden Heraghty (0-1), James Gallagher, Alan McAteer (2-1), Conor McFadden (0-1), Shane McGinley, Niall Carr (0-3), John Heraghty (3-0), Patrick Carr. UNVEILED: TITANIC BALLROOM WITH SWISH DONEGAL-MADE CURTAINS

first_imgAN inspiring Co Donegal business is celebrating – after its swish curtains were unveiled today inside a recreation of the Titanic ballroom.Glenmore Linens boss Patricia O’Toole thought it was a wind-up when she got the order last December. Then she realised it was for a replica ballroom of the sunken liner – inside the new Titanic building in Belfast. “With the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, it was a very special order for us and we’re delighted the curtains are now up,” said Patricia of Glenmore Linens in Ballybofey. The Titanic Suite is due to open later this month as part of the wider Titanic Belfast visitor centre. The replica ballroom also includes the famous staircase, featured in the 1990s movie about the boat’s sinking.Said Patricia: “We were provided with the original designs for the original curtains and followed those meticulously.” Her father, company director Sean O’Kane, said 250 metres of material were to make the curtains which will hang six metres high in the replica ballroom“There are two different colours – wine red velvet for the dress curtains and cream for the working curtains. The only difference between these and the original curtains is that the replica ones will be operated by electric!”The 1,000-seater Titanic Suite is just half a mile from where the ship was built at Harland & Wolff in east Belfast.More than 1500 people died when it struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage to New York in April 1912.LEAVE YOUR COMMENT BELOW © 2012 donegaldaily.com, all Rights ReservedThe copying, republication or redistribution of donegaldaily.com Content, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited by law.Follow us on www.twitter.com/donegaldailyFollow us on www.facebook.com/donegaldaily UNVEILED: TITANIC BALLROOM WITH SWISH DONEGAL-MADE CURTAINS was last modified: March 19th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:UNVEILED: TITANIC BALLROOM WITH SWISH DONEGAL-MADE CURTAINSlast_img read more
