How Nin skillfully plays with the strongest emotion – love

first_imgWith a diverse and rich program in the historic center of Nin, on Saturday, August 19, the Romantic Night is held for the third time in the most romantic destination – Nin.The event is organized by the Tourist Board of the City of Nin and invites tourists to come to the old town of Nin at 20.30 when this event begins. “ Share your most beautiful moments of life on the wall of memories: photos, drawings, messages… Kiss your loved one in the places marked for a “kiss point”, dance at a romance concert, take a seat on a romantic “lover bench”. Buy a rose at magic fairies and win valuable prizes and more. Come on a romantic night – there are romantic experiences to remember. ”Call from the Nin Tourist Board.Nina was awarded this flattering title by the portal www.europeanbestdestinations.com in August 2015, declaring it the most romantic destination in Europe for that year out of about 50 cities that entered the competition for the title. On that occasion, the Tourist Board of Nin then organized the event Romantic Night, and that evening the city became a city of love in which everyone who was touched by “Cupid’s arrow” was waiting for a number of attractions. The event has taken place so far and attracts an increasing number of tourists, especially couples in love who want to feel the charms of romance in this old Croatian town.Often tourism workers forget that everyone, including tourists, remembers experiences and those little things that marked their lives. And that is why this story from Nin is very important and significant because it spontaneously and unobtrusively “plays” with the strongest emotion, and that is love. Someone once said a long time ago: “People change, but memories stay forever“. It is precisely these memories and experiences that we must provide to our tourists, and not sell the form without content through the classic rent of accommodation and the sun and the sea. “The Romantic Night event in the most romantic destination in Europe – Nin is being held for the third year in a row. In 2014, Nin entered the selection of the 48 most romantic cities in Europe by EBD – European Best Destination, and in 2015 it received the official logo of the Most Romantic Destination in Europe, which it can use in its promotion. Nin wants to be branded primarily as a romantic city, which includes existing brands: Nin is the first capital of the Croats, one of the oldest cities in the Mediterranean, a European destination of excellence, etc. In Nin, everything is in the sign of romance: the church of St. The cross, which is called the smallest cathedral in the world, the church of St. Nikola, then Gregory of Nin and his thumb, which many touch for happiness, the Queen’s beach that offers a breathtaking view and many other romantic symbols of Nina“, Explains the director of the Tourist Board Nina, Ph.D. Marija Dejanović added that tourists are very receptive to the event and note that Nin is increasingly visited by young couples.Photo: Boris KačanAs banal as the Wall of Memories may seem to you, it is one of the most significant emotions. Tourists leave through a signature, a postcard, a message… part of themselves on the wall. And that’s the best marketing possible, especially if we do remarketing and remind them of that moment. Tourists have literally left a part of themselves, and that is not to be forgotten. Is it? Now imagine that they have that picture on their fridge that they look at every day… smart enough. As Nin bears the official label “European Best romantic destinations”, and I have written a couple of times that the EBD title is as credible as the destination makes it credible, Nin is skillfully and interestingly played and communicated as a city for romantics through the 3rd Romantic Nights in Nin. Zagreb and Nin have slanted the mentioned title to make and tell a new story, while Zadar has not, with the proviso that it should be emphasized that the Tourist Board of Nin has much less resources, both financial and human in relation to the mentioned cities. But they struggle, they don’t whine about how impossible it is and according to their resources, even beyond their means they tell great tourist stories. They give that emotion and energy more, and it is definitely felt. And tourists feel it too.And that Nin tells its story in a quality and long-term way, is evidenced by the growing number of arrivals and overnight stays. Thus, Nin is one of the two Croatian record holders in terms of population growth during the summer. According to the estimates of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the population of Nin, a city with about 3000 inhabitants, increases by almost five and a half times during the summer season due to tourists. “Last year, on Romantic Night in Nino, a couple received as a reward a romantic dinner where a young man, Nino, proposed to his girlfriend. Recently, two more young couples got engaged in Nin, and often couples can be seen taking photos on the streets and sandy beaches of romantic Nin. All this affects the increase in attendance in Nin as a tourist destination for romantic souls”, Says Marija Dejanovic.Romantic night in Nin / Photo: Boris KačanWhat characterizes this event as well as Nin in general, which is all spontaneous, without some classic exaggeration and inflating, ie commercialization. And this is exactly where Nina’s greatest charm is, which makes a man, including a guest, feel natural and relaxed. Imagine drinking a glass of indigenous wine with your sweetheart on a sandy beach, two chairs, one table and your moment. An invaluable experience, right? It is remembered, it is an experience, not accommodation. If Nin itself had a small wind back from tourist institutions, I am sure the whole of Europe would know about Nin. I honestly don’t know why Zadar doesn’t promote Nin, even Zadar itself has a greater interest of its own due to the sale of quality and authentic content. Also, as well as the CNTB, which should be much more proactive, especially when we talk about smaller tourist areas, not to mention the importance, potential and importance that Nin carries and represents. It is necessary to go a little outside the security of its offices in Zagreb, in fact, much more often if the CNTB cares about the development of tourism.Nin is so small, and so big, important and significant for our culture, tourism, identity… and definitely a tourist destination that has the most unique, amazing, diverse and authentic tourist stories in Croatia. Nin has yet to be discovered as they certainly deserve much more attention due to their incredible variety, authenticity and significance. I sincerely hope that through strategic and sustainable development, Nin will forever remain as it is, with soul and story. Also, I hope that in the future it will not fall under the pressure of mass tourism, but work to increase quality, not quantity, as a year-round tourist destination because it certainly can and should be.Related news: NIN CHOCOLATE FEST AS A GREAT AUTHENTIC TOURIST STORYlast_img read more

World Cup: Lloyd, Hussain back India

first_imgLegendary West Indian captain Clive Lloyd on Friday said the current Indian ODI squad is well equipped to win the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. “India is very good side. Their batting is strong. Also they are currently No 1 Test side in the world,” Lloyd, who led West Indies to the Cup glory in its 1975 and ’79 editions, told Headlines Today, as former greats such as Kapil Dev, Arjun Ranatunga, Sourav Ganguly and Md Azaharuddin sat to review the Cup preparations of different teams, along with cricket analyst Charu Sharma and former cricketer Nikhil Chopra. Former England captain Nasser Hussain, while favouring India and Sri Lanka, also echoed the views of Lloyd, who cautioned against complacency on the fielding front, saying a good fielding side that stops the run flow wins games in an ODI. “Obviously India are a very good side. They have superstar names,” Hussain said, adding, no one should write off the Aussies, despite the Ashes loss.  While former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail believed his national team was better prepared compared to 1992, when Imran Khan made his country the world champions, Kapil Dev said it’s an open WC. “Everyone is on an equal footing,” said Sourav Ganguly.last_img read more

TOUCH FOOTBALL VICTORIA AWARDED $40,000 GRANT

first_imgTouch Football Australia’s Victorian Branch has been awarded the Supporting Grassroots Sport Grant, worth $40,000 over two years from the Victorian State Government. The grant will benefit the development of Touch Football in Victorian regional areas. $1.5 million has been allocated by the Victorian Government from the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Budget for regional and rural sport. TFA Victoria will use the funds from its grant to employ a part-time regional Game Development Officer to manage a specific area. The new position will be responsible for the development of Touch Football in the region through schools, current affiliates, establishing new affiliates, encouraging the development of referees and coaches, and maintaining facilities. TFAVictoria State Branch Manager David Brady said two regions are currently being considered. “Both have good potential for growth for two years. We’re just finalising partnership arrangements,” Mr. Brady said.Game Development Officer Carly Goodrich played a pivotal role in securing the grant.Ms. Goodrich believes that the grant will be of great benefit to Touch Football throughout regional Victoria and outer-metropolitan Melbourne. “It will be a big support because at the moment we’ve got a lot of volunteers doing work in that location. The volunteers will now be able to access resources from the State Branch office to assist them,” she said. The new TFA Victoria Regional Game Development Officer will be based in the specified area and employed locally, which will support the community. The level of service to the developing regions of the State is sure to be improved by the location of the GDO in the rural locality.“If our staff live in metropolitan Melbourne, it is difficult to get to a country affiliate so we might go out there only three or four times a year. But if we’ve got someone centred there in that area for the whole time then we would expect to get a lot of growth participant wise,” Goodrich said. The opportunity for the promotion of Touch Football to country areas is one of the key reasons that the grant was awarded.Sport and Recreation Victoria Project Officer Tom Forsell said the more regional participation, the better. “Currently Touch Football is predominantly Melbourne-based but having someone that can go and deliver sessions in the country, whether it’s school-based stuff or club-school links, will really improve the ability of the organisation to start getting more country kids playing. All the projects that we fund are looking at increasing the participation rate and giving people more of a choice,” Forsell said.TFA Victoria has been extremely proactive in seeking funding in numerous areas, and Branch Manager David Brady is confident that two more key project grants will be awarded soon.“With the extra funding from the State Government, and with several other grants in the pipeline, we will be in a position to access extra staffing support from the parent body. What we’re trying to do is to pool our resources in the right direction. We have experienced quite a substantial growth, as evidenced by our Schools Championships, and the number of affiliates that come on board. We’ve had two new affiliates in the last financial year, which is fantastic. We have had a lot of new enquiries about the sport and the game so we are on our way to establishing our niche in the Victorian sporting landscape for the future,” Brady said. The first grant Touch Victoria is awaiting notification on is a Participation In Community Sport and Active Recreation (PICSAR), State and Regional grant, funded by VicHealth.  VicHealth’s charter is to ‘build opportunities for people to be informed, learn new skills, have greater access to activities that promote good health, and share healthier environments’.The sport of Touch Football seems a perfect fit for this criteria. The second grant is part of the Victorian Government’s Future Directions Project, which is also funded through the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Budget. These two grants would help TFA Victoria fund Touch Football in the other identified regional area as well as continue the expansion of the sport in metropolitan Melbourne. Nick Mooney, TFA Victoria Operations Manager is in the process of formalising the strategic and development plans to drive the game forward amongst juniors and in new affiliates in Victoria. The grants are a sign of the increasing recognition of Touch Football as a sport of choice for Victorians.Australian football is still the dominant code in Australia’s south east corner, with 300,000 Victorians currently playing the game, however Touch Football is promoted as a complement to the game, rather than a competition. Touch Football is predominantly a summer sport in Victoria and affiliates are establishing strong links with Australian football clubs. “We find that it’s a good cross-training sport for a lot of football players to keep fit in summer,” David Brady said. With the increased support from the Government and continued partnerships with other sports, Touch Football in Victoria is going from strength to strength.last_img read more

first_imgBenedict Cumberbatch, Michelle Dockery, Tom Hardy, Gillian Anderson, Idris Elba, Eddie Redmayne, Anna Friel, Sheridan Smith and Steve Coogan have come together in an exclusive short film and set of photographs shot by renowned English photographer and film director Greg Williams to support Stand Up To Cancer which launches today (Monday 8 September).Video: Act Now. Save Lives. Stand Up To CancerDemonstrating the need for urgency in the fight against cancer, the short film (57secs) features each A- list star running towards the camera in a defiant stance. Cut with portraits of cancer patients who are also supporting the Stand Up To Cancer campaign, the film is bold, brave and moving and shows unity and collective defiance in the face of this devastating disease. The set of photographs accompanying the film also demonstrate the urgent message that we need to act now to accelerate new cancer treatments to UK patients and save more lives.Greg Williams said: “It’s been an honour to be involved in the Stand Up To Cancer campaign. I lost my mum to cancer, something I feel strongly that no one should ever have to experience. By making this film and collection of images, I’ve been able to help to bring Stand Up To Cancer’s vital work to the fore and help build momentum in the fight against cancer.”Idris Elba said: “Stand Up To Cancer is a brilliant campaign that will turn the tables on cancer, accelerate new treatments and ultimately save more lives. I know from personal experiences the devastating effect that cancer can have on people’s lives. My own father passed away from lung cancer in September 2013. It affected the whole family, turned our lives upside down and is truly something that we absolutely need to stop in the future. We all have the power to help change statistics and save lives, we just need to unite together, take control and make a stand. Survival rates have improved tremendously but we still need to do more. We need to let cancer know that it’s now payback time and we will do whatever is in our power to beat it.”Sheridan Smith said: “Cancer sadly affects so many of us which is why I’m supporting this amazing campaign to help raise funds for vital research. I really hope that by joining together as a united group to fight cancer one day, no-one’s family member or friend will have to lose their life to cancer.”Stand Up To Cancer is a joint national fundraising campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 raising funds to accelerate new cancer treatments to patients and save more lives. People can join the frontline against cancer this autumn through fundraising, buying Stand Up To Cancer merchandise, and tuning into the live TV show on Channel 4 on Friday 17th October.last_img read more

Catalan leaders plan legal challenge to Spains takeover

first_imgMADRID – Catalonia’s political leaders plan to bring a legal challenge to prevent the Spanish government from removing them from office and taking over running the region to stop its push for independence, a regional spokesman said Tuesday.Appeals will be lodged in Spain’s constitutional and Supreme courts against Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s decision to sack Catalonia’s government and curtail the regional parliament’s powers, regional government spokesman Jordi Turull said.If the regional government is not successful in Spanish courts, it will pursue the case in international courts, Turull said.Spain’s Senate is expected to approve Rajoy’s plans on Friday, triggering previously untapped constitutional powers to act against Catalan leaders accused of violating the law by holding a secession referendum and preparing to declare independence.“We are going to respond in a very solid way,” Turull said at the end of the regional government’s weekly cabinet meeting. “We will exhaust all internal ways in order to turn to the international justice if needed.”Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont has a last chance this week to defend his case before Senate members, and some speculate he may do so Thursday or Friday — when he could cross paths with Rajoy. But Puigdemont could pull a surprise by instead attending a meeting at the regional parliament in Barcelona Thursday, where he could declare independence. There’s also speculation that Puigdemont may alternatively call an early regional election and avoid central government intervention.Calling such an election would indicate that Catalonia was willing to return to the fold and act under Spanish laws, rather than flout them by declaring independence.Justice Minister Rafael Catala said Tuesday that Puigdemont must state he is willing to abide by Spanish laws and also clarify if he declared independence in an ambiguous speech he gave Oct. 10. The speech followed a banned referendum that the Catalan leader said gave him a mandate to secede.More details about the effect the political crisis is having on Catalonia emerged Tuesday when Caixabank, Spain’s third-largest bank, reported it suffered a “moderate” but temporary run on deposits due to the crisis over the region’s independence bid.The bank transferred its headquarters from Catalonia to the Valencia region on Oct. 6.Presenting the company’s earnings for the first time in the city of Valencia, CEO Gonzalo Gortazar declined to give details on the value of the withdrawn deposits, but said the losses had “been reversed” and the bank continued to grow.Gortazar said the headquarters relocation was definitive. Local media reports quoted him as saying the bank does not currently plan to move any jobs out of Catalonia.A second bank, Sabadell, and more than a thousand other companies have moved their official bases out of Catalonia to ensure they could continue operating under European Union laws if Catalonia breaks away from Spain.____Parra contributed from Barcelona, Spain.
