first_imgWhile police investigated a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening in east Vancouver, a possible pipe bomb was discovered nearby in the road.The crash was reported at 6:05 p.m. at Northeast 78th Street and Northeast 162nd Avenue. One of the vehicles, after colliding with the other, careered into the backyard of a house, patrol Sgt. Todd Barsness said.A bystander pointed out that something resembling a PVC pipe bomb was lying in the street about 100 feet from the collision. Deputies weren’t sure what was in the pipe, which was capped at both ends, Barsness said. They called out the agency’s explosive disposal unit, which exploded the object with a loud bang.Police blocked the roadway while they investigated both incidents. According to the Washington Department of Transportation, the collision was cleared around 7:30 p.m.last_img
